Exciting news has spread across the Asian culture as Six Senses plans to open its first-ever city hotels. The Luxury Travel Agency is excited to announce that the largely regarded Six Senses Resorts and Spa which is well known for its quiet beach-front locations, has stepped up to the challenge of city hotels and is expected to have two locations opening soon in Singapore. Great excitement has stirred along with much curiosity as the resort brand brings its charm into the heart of Singapore, right in the middle of the hustle and bustle!
Both the hotels are located within very close distance of each other; the Duxton and the Maxwell. Both buildings hold a long story of history, despite the wonderful renovations Six Senses has given them.
The Maxwell Hotel, located on Maxwell Road was originally the location of a large nutmeg plantation a long time ago, but in later years when fourteen 3 and 4 story buildings were constructed along the stretch, times changed into a new era! The fourteen buildings were eventually connected into one 5large building in the later years, thus now appealing to Six Senses as a wonderful candidate.
The Maxwell hotel building was selected by Six Senses for its historical appeal, its classical design and exquisite location. One may see for themselves in the photos, however, to truly experience the divine luxury of these new properties, a pampered visit is a must. The diverse characteristics of the buildings original character have been thoughtfully preserved and restored to their original shining glamour. The hotel now features over 120 spacious guestrooms and suites, an outdoor lap pool, champagne bar and lounge, whisky bar, board room and even club lounge.
The interior of the building and rooms will stun its future guests to the bone with the exquisite eye of none other than Jacques Garcia, a renowned French interior designer with an eye tailored to luxury and taste. The furnishings selected carefully reflect the era when the building was constructed but keeping in mind today’s taste for modern atmospherics.
Situated in Chinatown’s old quarter Tanjong Pagar, also regarded as Jinrickshaw Palace, one can now find Six Senses second new hotel! The Duxton, located just a moments distance of The Maxwell, holds a unique story of its own. In an area which long before used to hold dark secrets of drug use and illegal trade, has now become an area of light and open arms with The Duxton in the neighborhood. Visiting guests can experience local food right by the hotel, or of course, enjoy fine cuisine right in the hotels highly refined restaurant.
The Six Senses brought in Anouska Hempel; a visionary from London, to design the interior of the hotel. While still illuminating with Asian design, Anouska created a unique style which provides visiting guests with a luxurious and cultural experience unique to the location. One of Six Senses wonderful accomplishments with both their new additions, was their ability to rejuvenate both the buildings, whistle still maintaining their authentic Asian style, which is very vital as guests are not just visiting the hotel but experiencing the area’s culture even from the inside.
